David Gallagher to head up IPHA

Pfizer Healthcare Ireland’s managing director David Gallagher has been elected president of the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association (IPHA).
David has been with Pfizer Healthcare Ireland since 2001 and was appointed managing director in May 2007.
He has over 15 years experience in the biopharmaceutical and life sciences industry in Ireland and internationally, with previous stints at Lilly in Ireland and biotechnology company Plant Genetic Systems in Belgium.
Commenting on his election David said: “New ways of thinking and new approaches are needed to build on the successful partnerships developed between the industry, the state and its various agencies to ensure that patients continue to have access to the newest and best medicines that our industry has to offer.
“We are interested in the totality of healthcare and more significantly how we can make our contribution, through the use of the full range of innovative medicines and vaccines, count. Only by doing this can the industry continue to make a valuable contribution to the health of Irish patients and the Irish economy.”
The IPHA represents the international research-based pharmaceutical industry in Ireland, with members drawn from manufacturers of prescription medicines and non-prescription or consumer health care medicines.
