The Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) network has made a change in its executive leadership with the appointment of president and chief executive Stephen Bonner, who will assume the new role of executive chairman.
From July Gerard van Grinsven (pictured) will assume the role of president and chief executive. In his new role, Bonner will continue to serve as the senior executive of CTCA responsible for preparing van Grinsven to succeed him and leading the company’s objectives.
Bonner will also manage the company’s financial relationships, the charitable activities of The Gateway for Cancer Research and the operations of Cancer Nutrition Centers of America. All other corporate functions will report to van Grinsven.
For the past seven years, van Grinsven has served as president and chief executive of the Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital in Detroit. Prior to his tenure at the Henry Ford, van Grinsven held several executive positions with the Ritz-Carlton, Peninsula, and Mandarin Oriental hotel companies.
“Gerard’s arrival is an exciting and dramatic step in the evolution of our leadership that will herald new opportunities for all of our talented Stakeholders and the thousands of patients we serve,” said Bonner.
Richard Stephenson, founder and chairman of the CTCA Board said: “We have always encouraged innovative and dynamic deployment of our wonderful talent, and are very excited about the exemplary leadership we know Gerard will bring to this tradition in the years ahead.”
