Burson-Marsteller appoints Kate Hawker as MD and chair

PR firm Burson-Marsteller has hired pharma comms expert Kate Hawker as managing director and chair of both its EMEA and UK Healthcare practices. 

Hawker has 25 years of experience from directing pan-European and UK medical communications and PR programmes, to working for some of the biggest names in the industry. She has been successful in both founding and establishing medical communications companies and working within agencies.

Hawker joins B-M from the InforMed group of medical communications companies where she was Business Development director. She held this position for three years since launching the start-up medical communications company Medea, as part of InforMed.

Prior to setting up Medea, Kate was director and partner at Fleishman Hillard which she joined in 2006 when they bought out her shares in The Remedy, the medical communications agency she had founded in 2000, and incorporated it into the FH healthcare practice.

During her career Hawker has worked on campaigns for firms such as GSK, Baxter, Takeda, Boehringer-Ingelheim and Bristol Myers Squibb, Seven Seas and MSD.
