Amgen has poached David Meline from US multinational firm 3M to serve as an executive VP and chief financial officer.
Meline joins the California-based biopharma giant from 3M Company where he fulfilled a senior VP and CFO role, and part of the attraction to Amgen involved a $2 million signing bonus according to the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Meline will be responsible for Amgen’s finance and investor relations operations, reporting to its chairman and chief executive Robert Bradway. He is succeeding Michael Kelly who has served as acting CFO since January this year.
Previously Meline held numerous leadership positions at General Motors, living and working on five continents during his tenure.
Bradway says: “David’s leadership talent and broad international experience will be invaluable to Amgen as we execute our strategy for long term growth and bring our pipeline of medicines toward commercialisation in a number of new markets. I am delighted to welcome him to the team.”
