
Amgen appoints Esteban Santos as executive VP of operations

Amgen (NASDAQ: AMGN) has announced the appointment of Esteban Santos as executive vice president, operations.
Santos will be responsible for Amgen’s operations organisation which encompasses manufacturing, process development, quality, engineering and global supply chain. He will report directly to CEO Robert A. Bradway and begin his role from July 25 2016.
He is set to succeed Madhu Balachandran who is retiring at the end of this year, aged 65. Santos has been senior vice president of manufacturing since 2013.
He previously held roles as site general manager for the Johnson & Johnson site in Puerto Rico as well as management positions in General Electric. He joined Amgen in 2007 where his roles have included vice president of drug product and vice president of site operations.

I’m confident that Esteban and our operations team will maintain our track record of industry-leading performance in serving ‘every patient, every time’ as we expand globally, launch new products and introduce our next-generation of biomanufacturing technologies.”
Taking over Santos’s current role as VP of manufacturing will Robert Maroney.
