
AbbVie replaces retiring VP of Western Europe and Canada

AbbVie has appointed Esteban Plata as vice president of Western Europe and Canada.
He replaces Pascale Richetta who is retiring from AbbVie. Richetta is retiring from AbbVie at the end of January to pursue her professional interests at a European pharmaceutical company.
Plata, who is currently vice president of the Japan and Asia Pacific (JAPAC) region, joined Abbott Spain in 1991, where he successfully held several sales and marketing positions. In 2005, he was appointed as commercial director in Europe, then promoted in 2006 to general manager of Abbott Turkey, and then promoted again in 2008 to general manager of Abbott Spain.
In 2013, Plata was named as Abbott/AbbVie’s first vice president in JAPAC. He will relocate from Singapore to Paris for his new role, beginning February 1st.
Esteban received his bachelor’s degree in science from Santiago University and his PhD in biotechnology from the National Council on Scientific Research in Spain. He holds an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa, in Madrid.
