An app launched by Doctors.net.uk in response to a surge in the number of doctors signing up for iPhones, has chalked up 15,000 users since its launch last November.
Doctors.net.uk is the UK’s largest and most active online network of medical professionals and its free application provides independent healthcare news and feeds, as well as access to a library of exclusive podcasts recorded for the network.
The popularity of the Doctors.net.uk app illustrates a clear trend among doctors to use mobile devices to access professional news and educational content. With more doctors opting to download the app month on month, Tim Ringrose, managing director of medical communities, at Doctors.net.uk, says the app is fulfilling a real need for flexible access to professional information.
He said: “We are witnessing a boom in doctors using iPhones and other mobile devices. The Doctors.net.uk medical news app has proved to be a big success and we’ve had great feedback.”
“Mobile technology is now at the stage where it can really support doctors in their work and it’s now an important part of the Doctors.net.uk service.”
The application is freely available at the App Store HQ or members can follow a link from www.doctors.net.uk.
