inChord buys Junction 11 advertising agency

Global healthcare communications company inChord Communications has expanded its European base by buying the UK Junction 11 agency.

inChord has its headquarters in Ohio and is the largest privately held healthcare communications company in the world, and is now increasing its presence to serve the pharmaceutical industry and other healthcare clients in Europe.

The new agency will be known as GSW Worldwide/Junction 11and will combine the existing operation of inChord’s flagship London agency, GSW Worldwide with Junction 11’s staff and client base.

The new agency’s combined client roster includes Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Johnson & Johnson and Shire and will be headed up by Stephen Wheatley, recently appointed as president of UK operations.

Wheatley previously served as chief executive at Euro RSCG Life and has held positions with TBW, Euro RSCG and Ogilvy and Mather Advertising.

He said: “The aim for the future is for us to be the number one agency by reputation in the country. With this acquisition, the key thing is not only are we increasing our profile but we are buying the people as well.”

The new company, with approximately 25 employees, will serve as the European hub for GSW Worldwide’s global network which includes affiliate agencies in 13 countries across the globe.

Senior leadership will include Richard Rayment and John Timney, formerly of Junction 11, who will serve as co-creative directors.

GSW Worldwide/Junction 11 will be based in London but will maintain an office in Surrey until early 2005.
