Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and Shire Health Group have merged part of their operations to form Fast4wD Ogilvy, a clinical trial recruitment and retention firm.

Fast4wD Ogilvy will bring together health communications and patient advocacy from Ogilvy PR's Washington office and clinical trial support capabilities in Europe and Asia from Shire Health's Oxford-based Fast4wD.

Former Ogilvy senior VP Chris Shreeve will head up the US office, Michelle Argument will lead the Europe/Asia office from Oxford and overall charge of the company will be held by Emma Sergeant as worldwide president of Fast4wD Ogilvy.

According to Ogilvy PR chief executive Marcia Silverman, Fast4wD Ogilvy will be the first marketing company to offer fully specialised patient recruitment and retention support for clinical trials worldwide.

The company will offer a range of global services aimed at addressing clinical trial bottlenecks due to difficulties with identifying, enrolling, and retaining suitable patients for clinical trials.

Formed in 1996 as 4D Communications, Fast4wD was originally part of the Shire Health Group, itself part of the Ogilvy network. The Ogilvy network is in turn part of global communications giant the WPP Group.
