“I’d never heard of med comms until I wanted to change career and started exploring my options” – it’s a common reply when you ask colleagues how they first got into the industry. Perhaps it’s because of the relatively small size of our sector compared to other professions in medicine, academia, law, banking, etc. Maybe it’s not immediately obvious to those outside medcomms what it is we do or why there is a need for medical education.
This visibility dilemma poses a challenge for agencies wanting to recruit the best and the brightest graduates and postgraduates to serve their clients with innovative and intelligent solutions. Here at Synergy Vision, finding the most talented people to join our team is very important, and something we put a lot of effort into, with great success. We have developed our new recruitment website with intention of making medcomms more visible, and to get across our values and culture and why medcomms offers a rewarding career for those who are interested in science and medicine.

We are active on social media and our team post regularly on our blog. We try wherever possible to reach out to candidates from all backgrounds when we advertise new roles within our company. As is often said, diversity is the key to a successful business, which needs fresh ideas and multiple perspectives to keep up with this fast-moving world we live in.
As well as reaching out to as many people as possible, spotting those with potential and giving them the opportunity to develop to their fullest is hugely important to us. Synergy Vision have run successful development programmes for recent graduates, allowing them to get their foot in the door of what can be a very competitive industry for those with little on-the-job experience.
