IMS promotes Adel Al-Saleh to senior sales role

IMS Health has promoted Adel Al-Saleh to the newly created position of senior vice president, sales and global account management.

He was previously president of Europe, Middle East and Africa and in his new role will be responsible for advancing the company’s go-to-market initiatives, working closely with its sales, consulting, services and business line organisations.

He continues to report to IMS chairman and chief executive David Carlucci, and will be based at the company’s Connecticut, US headquarters

“Adel is a talented executive who will help us ensure a seamless, integrated approach to addressing clients’ evolving needs,” said Mr. Carlucci. “Over the past three years, he has played a prominent role in defining and implementing our business strategy in the EMEA region during a period of transformation for the industry and IMS.”

Al-Saleh joined IMS in 2007 and assumed responsibility for the company’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to IMS, he spent 19 years with IBM serving several different industries and holding a variety of roles spanning international sales, business development and executive management.

The role of president, EMEA at the company will be filled by Seyed Mortazavi, who will have responsibility for IMS operations in more than 50 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Mortazavi has been with the company for 14 years, during which time he has held roles of increasing responsibility in the UK, US and EMEA sales organisations. Most recently, he served as general manager, UK, Ireland and South Africa.
